Thai-flagged cargo ship was attacked in the Arabian Sea after passing through the Strait of Hormuz, forcing all 23 crew members to abandon the vessel, according to preliminary reports on 11 March. The incident was reported at around 11:30. The ship had departed from the United Arab Emirates and was sailing into the Arabian Sea when it came under attack near the stern. The strike caused severe damage to the engine room at the rear of the vessel and sparked a fire, leaving the ship unable to manoeuvre. Due to the damage and the fire on board, the crew decided to abandon the vessel for safety. All 23 crew members evacuated the ship in an emergency as maritime security authorities in the area were contacted for assistance. Officials said it remains unclear who was responsible for the attack or what type of weapon was used. Authorities are investigating the incident, which occurred along one of the world’s most critical maritime routes linking the Gulf region with global shipping lanes.
