CHON BURI — A large fire broke out at a foam-melting factory in Mu 3 of Ban Suan subdistrict, Mueang district, Chon Buri, on 2 February, prompting a major response from firefighters. Police from Mueang Chon Buri station and municipal firefighters were alerted at about 12:00 and rushed to the scene, where flames were raging through a dirt yard stacked with large quantities of foam boxes. Dozens of fire engines were deployed to contain the blaze. Firefighters battled the flames for more than an hour before bringing the fire under control and confining it to a limited area. A factory worker, Kamdee Buayai, 49, said the fire was sparked by an apparent electrical short circuit, followed by sparks falling onto piled foam boxes, causing the fire to spread rapidly. Workers initially tried to put out the fire but were unable to control it due to the highly flammable materials, he said. Police said they will conduct a detailed investigation to determine the exact cause of the fire and take legal action if necessary.
