Diesel spill after tanker overturns on Mittraphap Road

NAKHON RATCHASIMA — 23 March 2026, A diesel tanker overturned on Mittraphap Road spilling fuel across the carriageway and slowing traffic, with three people slightly injured, police said. Highway Police from Ban Som service unit were alerted at around 07:00 to the accident on Highway 2 between kilometres 207–208 on the outbound lane from Bangkok. Officers and emergency responders were dispatched to the scene. Authorities found a large tanker lying on its side in the middle of the road, with diesel leaking and spreading over a wide area, posing a hazard to motorists and causing significant congestion. Three people sustained minor injuries and received first aid at the scene before being taken to a nearby hospital. All were reported to be in stable condition. Officials worked to contain the spill using absorbent materials and washed the road surface to reduce slipperiness and prevent further accidents. Traffic police were also deployed to manage congestion and ease the backlog of vehicles. The cause of the crash remains under investigation. Authorities urged motorists to exercise caution, particularly when driving over oil-contaminated surfaces.
